As you may have noticed, it has been a bit quiet here for some time...
Hi, I am Devon - the creator of Baseborn.
I have been hand making all of my clothing for a few years now. I have loved the intimate and slow process of it, the means of connecting to individuals and helping them feel handsome and lush, and pouring my heart into researching historical clothes to create new garments that can last a lifetime and ideally longer.
But being the sole owner/designer/sewist/order fulfillment guy is extremely labor intensive and, to be frank, not sustainable for little ol' me. However, Baseborn isn't over - it's evolving! I love providing a space where people can purchase garments made with legitimate care, quality, health and safety practices* (*which tbh, was not always the case when only I made everything....too much!) and aim to keep that alive.
What is next? With my recent move to Europe, I am also moving my operation overseas. I will continue researching and creating historically inspired designs but will put my trust into the hands of a small team of talented sewists in Lithuania to produce them. Are you nervous about the change in quality? Trust me, I definitely was. After trying out different options, I am happy to say that the team I chose is making beautiful pieces which I can feel proud of. In fact, I have already been wearing my samples for months and they're holding up perfectly to my river-swimming, climbing trees, and general creature activities.
When will the new collection be available to purchase? We are aiming for April-May of 2026.

What is changing?
Production is moving from US to Lithuania.
I will no longer be sewing the ready-made* garments. Instead, they will be made by a small team of sewists who excel in consistency, following my strict guidelines for sewing methods and quality.
Order fulfillment will be much faster with more frequent shipping dates.
Response times to inquiries/emails will also be much faster! :D
Costs will be lower on average and more consistent due to increased fabric and labor economy of working with a sewing team.
Baseborn will be implementing size labels on the clothing (I'm sorry......it is necessary for production but I am hoping to develop a system that feels fab and body-neutral).
Baseborn will have a much better chance of sustainability in every sense of the phrase (environmentally, physically, spiritually)
Baseborn will start feeling a little more ~pRoFesSiOnaL~ and increase in standard marketing practices (aka, any at all compared to the previous lack thereof) but only in ways that feel authentic to my aesthetic and consumerism values.
*I will continue to make custom garments on occasion.
What is staying the same?
I will still be designing everything myself with strict guidelines to ensure historical sewing methods for strong seams and beautiful finishing.
Baseborn will continue to use OEKO-TEX certified 100% linen and high quality 100% wool for all of my garments along with other natural materials like metal, wood, bone, horn.
Continue using as little plastic as possible in the packaging.
Continue a measurement-first approach, listing numbers as the most relevant info, arbitrary "sizes" after.
Continue supporting people of every creed/ethnicity/gender and sexuality to treat clothes as genderless expressions of beauty for everyone.
I will continue to be extremely grateful for everyone's support and word-of-mouth marketing that has given me the ability to pursue my passion of historical clothing professionally <3

Accepting feedback!
I know this is a big change. If you wish to offer any insights, feedback, constructive criticism or general thoughts about how this change effects you, I am all ears. It will also help me shape a new FAQ page.
